ΣΑΕ Raises Buck’s for Breasts

Bucking

Tuesday night’s rain shower didn’t stop the crowd from showing up at Gallettes.

The Annual ΣΑΕ Bucking for Breast Cancer Benefit was hosted Tuesday night from 9 until close in the upstairs room of Gallettes. Donations were taken at the door and all proceeds from the night benefitted the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

The event was made complete with a mechanical bull in the upstairs room and The Wiregrass Fever playing onstage.

The mechanical bull was the highlight of the night and it drew a large crowd of spectators throughout the benefit. Over $100 in less than 5 minutes was all it took to persuade ΣΑΕ twin brothers to ride the bull and kick off the night’s festivities.

Robert Rolfe, Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s social chairman was in charge of the event this year.

“Even though the weather didn’t start the night off well, we had a great turn-out and were able to raise a substantial amount of money for a good cause,” Rolfe said.

The ΣΑΕ Bucking for Breast Cancer Benefit raised over $2,500 this year.  Over 400 people RSVP’d to the event.

They are working to make this event bigger and better with every year, and Rolfe says, “SΑΕ is going to continue to host the benefit at UA, we are trying to save the ta-ta’s.”

If you couldn’t make it out on Tuesday night and still want to help the cause, donations can still be collected throughout the week. For more information contact Robert Rolfe at rorolfe@crimson.ua.edu.
